Located in the former Rodman naval base, on the western shore of the Pacific entrance of the Panama Canal, the terminal in its first phase offers a 340-meter long dock and a container yard with a capacity of 450,000 TEU. Equipped with three quay cranes and nine rubber tire gantry yard cranes.

La terminal inició operaciones en diciembre de 2010 con la recepción de productos de hierro y otros suministros para la expansión del Canal de Panamá. Sus operaciones de contenedores iniciaron formalmente en el año 2012.

Its proximity to the Panama Canal allows an easy access to the main intermodal route of the Americas

With its current capacity, the PSA Panama container terminal serves an estimated 400 berths and moves 250,000 TEUs per year.

The traffic increase of Post-Panamax vessels as result of the Panama Canal expansion presents the need to better fit the country’s berth and yard service capacity, both for the amount of ships and increased cargo volume.

Looking forward to be a natural partner to foster this growth, PSA Panama has undertaken the expansion of its container terminal located at the former Rodman naval base, by the Panama Canal’s Pacific entrance.

The project began in May 2015. This expansion consists of the installation of 800 linear meters of quay, two docking structures for mega vessels and the expansion of its container yard to 2 million TEU capacity. Additionally, PSA Panama will install eight new quay cranes and 12 RMGs (mounted on rails), for a total investment of more than $ 400 million dollars.

During the expansion phase, approximately 1,000 jobs were generated. Once the terminal is fully operational, the PSA Panama workforce will be approximately 400 employees, taking into account those working directly for PSA Panama and outsourced services
